The short version: editing, labelling and exporting happen in your own browser and your photos are not stored on our servers. If you choose an AI feature, a copy of that photo is sent to Google's AI service for processing. We collect the minimum needed to run the service.
Your photos
Editing, labelling, colour grading and exporting happen on your own device. Your photos are not stored on our servers. Your work-in-progress (photos, labels, brand kits, saved colours) is stored in your browser's own local storage so it's there when you come back — clearing your browser data removes it.
AI features are the exception. When you use AI sky replacement, or the app's automatic scene-matching, a reduced-size copy of that photo is sent via our server to Google's Gemini AI service, which generates the result and returns it. We don't keep the copy, and Google processes it under its Gemini API terms. If you never use an AI feature, no photo leaves your device.
What does leave your device
- Location lookups. When landmarks are loaded, the relevant coordinates or the address you typed are sent through our server to Google's Places service to fetch nearby landmark names. Google's handling is covered by Google's privacy policy. Reverse-geocoding and address search may also use OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service.
- Sign-in. When you sign in with Google, Google confirms your identity to us and we store your Google account identifier and email address, your credit balance and free-export count, and a sign-in session (valid up to 90 days). We use these only to keep your credits attached to you across devices — there is no DroneLabel password, and we never see your Google password.
- Payments. Credit purchases are processed by PayPal. We never see or store your card details. We keep the payment reference and your credit balance so we can honour what you've bought. Our credits ledger is backed up daily, with backups kept for about three weeks.
- Basic server logs. Like almost every website, our host records standard access logs (IP address, time, page) for security.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing.
- We don't run third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
